Opportunity classes cater for highly achieving, academically gifted students. These classes support gifted and talented students to learn by grouping them with other gifted and talented students, teaching them in specialised ways and providing educational materials at the appropriate level.
Applications for opportunity class placement for current Year 4 students, for Year 5 entry, are considered mainly on the combined results of the Opportunity Class Placement Test and school assessments. The Opportunity Class Placement Test will be held on Wednesday 31 July 2019.
For consideration for entry into an OC class in 2020 parents need to apply at the beginning of next term. You will need to apply online using a valid email address (not the student’s email address).
Detailed instructions on how to apply online will be available from Tuesday 30 April 2019 in a printed application information bookleat https://education.nsw.gov.au/public-schools/selective-high-schools-and-opportunity-classes/year-5 The t or application website opens on Tuesday 30 April 2019 and closes on Friday 17 May 2019. No late applications will be accepted.
There are no paper application forms. Please contact the school for assistance if you are not able to do this. You must submit only ONE application for each student.
Please return the 'Intention to Apply' notification which was sent to all Year 4 students last term, to the office by this Friday the 3rd of May. Copies of this form are also available on the school app.
