Wow what a day to play! The sun beamed down on us as we took the pitch at Centenary Park against Strathfield South.
From the very first whistle Homebush West pressed forward! The entire first half was attack, attack, attack! The team took full advantage of the width of our field highlighting our speed and hunger to get the ball first!
It was great to see our players holding their position and using the space. Sabrina and Yuuki soared past defenders providing us with a 2 -0 triumph for the match. Some very, very near misses to be commended by Ranita from the top of the box and Batol running the length of the field from left back. Antonina and Alisha also came frightfully close and I have to say that Armani’s footwork was dazzling!
I could say something for every player today, truly a terrific team effort. Well done team I am so proud of you!

Last Friday at Bressington Park Homebush West played against Homebush. Yath was our proud captain leading from the back and making some great clearances as well as keeping up the defence. Krish was an all-around soccer star this week. Keeping up with quality defence, choosing the right times to attack and then knowing how to set up a play. Joseph had a strong defence this week, he was relentless. Luka also deserves a special mention for his quality attacking game, never giving up and constantly beating players along the way. Sadly we weren’t successful in winning, however the team should be proud of their efforts, playing one of the best halves we’ve had so far.
Our training has been focussing on passing the ball when attacking, capitalising on opportunities of space and communication. It was fantastic to see the team implementing this throughout the game. Keep up the good work.

Last Friday the Junior Girls Soccer team played against Strathfield South in a fierce and competitive match. For the second game of the season, we played a very strong game identifying new ways to improve our skill and technique as individuals and teams. As a group, we all agreed that we need to work on our offence - finding that balance and learning how to support our forwards, running back to protect our 'zones' as well as supporting our defenders. What a challenge! However, week after week, we come back fighting and we are determined to keep trying! The final score for A's was 6-0 to SSPS and nil all for the B's. Some highlights include:
Junior A's
· Melanie's leadership in organising and providing on-field reminders to the team for the formation and zones - fantastic!
· Jade and Ally's fierce defence especially today we trialled a new formation on the field (2-3-1) - impressive!
· Ashleigh's powerful and accurate kicks that saw the ball travel down the field and past the half way mark - wow!
Junior B's
· Laura, Jogalie and Ruby's on field dynamic as our striker and midfielders with impressive dribbling and passing the ball to each other while communicating with the other team members - outstanding!
· Akshika's technique in her defence position particularly tricking the other opponents into thinking the ball would be kicked in a certain direction - very clever!
· Anshu and Bianca's great communication between each other during the game to ensure they were marking players and supporting the striker - well done!
Overall, the team played a great game showing progress and improvement in only a short amount of time. I am so proud of their high spirits and resilience and their ability to maintain this during a soccer match. Great work - always remember that I am proud of you and your efforts all day, every day!

The team played against our local rivals Homebush PS on a hot and beautiful Friday afternoon.
Homebush had a sizable advantage over most of our boys and as a result they dominated most of the possession for the first half.
The one highlight of the half was a bizarre handball from the Homebush keeper which gifted us a free kick just outside the box. The ensuing kick was well saved and the half ended with Homebush up 2-nil.
The second half was a similar affair but we started to create chances with Seb making a great run in the final few minutes.
Ultimately we couldn’t stop the Homebush long range goals and the game ended 5 nil to Homebush.
The Homebush referee awarded Ian ‘Player of the Match’ for his effort but it could have easily been any of our players who all played with heart and tenacity all the way to the final whistle.

Last Friday Homebush West played against Croydon. It was a tough match for both sides. Both teams did well in defence and played a back and forth match. Unfortunately both teams lost this week. The teams reflected that we need to work more on getting in front of our players and throwing accurate passes. Both teams did well to work on their footwork from previous weeks.
The players of the week were Suhaan for her shooting and Akshayaa for her defense. Next week, both Senior Netball teams are looking forward to a new game!

Last Friday the Junior Netball team played against Croydon. Croydon played a very strong game in defence and attack. In the second half our A team came back with great defence and attacking skills but sadly they lost even though they had greatly improved their game on the second half. The final score was 1-15. Jun-xi was awarded Player of the Week.
The B team also lost but had an awesome game. The opposing team Croydon was really good. Everyone tried their best especially Renisha who was awarded Best Player of the game.
