This week students are engaging with NAIDOC learning and preparing for our NAIDOC celebrations in Week 10. NAIDOC Week events are held across Australia each July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The week is a great opportunity to participate in a range of activities and to support your local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. The theme for NAIDOC Week 2019 is Voice. Treaty. Truth. Let’s Work Together. This theme aims to emphasise the need for all Australians to recognise that the true story of colonisation must be acknowledged, and that true reconciliation must take place in order for some genuine healing to occur.
We are excited to host a special NAIDOC assembly on Monday 1st July to which all members of our community are invited. This year we’re doing something a little different, come and share in the joy of working together in forming the word TREATY with our whole community.
